MY ARGUMENT AGAINST THE WRETCHED WORD "CELEBRITY"...

Yes, I'm quite aware.
Its just a word.
...just a word....
this I know...
But in reality.....its more.
What it represents by today's standards.
What it translates to.
What is connected with it.
What it means in this town.

Years ago, the word was once associated with Glamour, Class, Respect, and especially TALENT.
Primarily in the film/acting world.

We now live in a time where that is only a memory of the past.
A very distant past.
The word 'Celebrity' is no longer defined by these adjectives.
In fact, the word 'Celebrity' is now almost infinite in its definition.
Thanks to the Media's exploitative promotional machine of everything sensational and 'Newsworthy', 'Celebrities' constitute the majority of the way money moves in this Nation.

Since they exist only because they are 'liked' and are 'popular' to the masses, this makes them a commodity. The Media as well as other business and marketing sources see this and use 'Celebrity' to peddle their wares.

They believe that the Public are 'Cattle', who will do, moreover, BUY, anything that is endorsed by 'Celebrity'. The 'Celebrity' gets what they want; money and admiration to feed their insatiably insecure egos, and the companies get what they crave, the selling of their product, bringing them up the corporate ladder so they can afford more weekend hooker getaways.

This is known as a never-ending 'slave circle' that is fueled by the 'Celebrities' addiction to fame and recognition, and the public's pavlovian need for feeding on 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous', thus giving the 'Celebrity' what they crave and so on and so forth.

On the outside of the circle are various entities that try to get a piece of the action by using the 'slave-circle' to their benefit.
The Media.
Corporations.
Magazines.
Clothing companies.
Nightclubs.
its everywhere.
and it won't ever stop.

We are a doomed society that is increasingly becoming more af a POLICE STATE, manipulated soley by what generates product consumption.

Before I go off on that tangent let me just finish by going back to my original aim of focus which was basically stating how I do not believe in the word 'Celebrity' in the nausea inducingl days of today.

In todays sensationalized reality-star-based society, that word is meaningless.

'Celebrity' (se leb're te) n. 1.Recognized 2.Acknowledgement. 3.Identified. 4.Acceptance. 5.Approved. 6.Deception. 7.Trickery. 8.Counterfeit, falsefied. 9.Charlatan. 10.Colloq flimflam 11.Hoax 12.Fraud 13.Duplicitous 14.Guileful 15.Artifice.

The term is now attached to anyone that is void of talent, but who happens to attract media attention. Evident in the insurmountable number of reality-based television shows where the 'stars' of the show receive as much, if not more, attention than actual Film Actors who have studied their craft for years.(Although, much of whom's talent is debatable).
Nontheless, these so-called 'Celebrities' have diluted the strain of what is true 'Celebrity'(non-existant by todays standards) and what is media fodder.

Maybe you already know this all.
Maybe you feed into it.
Maybe you don't care.

I guess I just had to express it since it really makes me sick to my stomach.

more to come...i have to run.
