CONTEMPORARY URBAN ART-THE DUMBING OF A NATION

I just watched this video from The Knife, 'We Share Our Mothers Health', directed by Motomichi Nakamura, and realized that the only way to actually get thru to the young generation in this nation is to ONLY USE ICONS AND GRAPHIC LOGOS THAT THEY CAN RECOGNIZE. This goes waaaay beyond even the elementary MTV Generation, because at least they were creative. Today EVERYTHING that is Art/Music/Media Based that wants recognition and admiration by young people has dumbed itself down expressly to be understandable to the young people. They are so uneducated, sophmoric, dumb and lazy that they can only recognize symbols and icons.

This theory also encompasses EVERYTHING that is 'graphic' based, recognizable and spewed out by Artists and Musicians of todays generation. It has all boiled down to "What can we use, that is immediately recognizable by the moral majority, to get our statement across? How can we influence a nation of people with the littlest effort possible?" This has also crossed over into the definition of the word 'Famous'. Famous can now be substituted for the word 'Recognized'. Try it. It works perfect by todays standards.

What ever happenend to having something sacred and only catering to the few people that we respect for their intelligence and integrity? I guess you have to pay your rent somehow.

Here's the Video:

P.S. I think 'The Knife' are pathetic retards that were designed especially to cater to insecure, easily-influenced, indie kids that don't know ANYTHING about ANYTHING, other than how to use their sidekicks. Plus they're from 'Sweden'. How special. After all, to them, its hip to like anything Euro and non-american.
