DESTINATION: Desolation

This is a short clip of downtown LA, while I was walking down 7th st. towards Maple on a Sunday at dusk in mid march. The desolation and emptiness was breathtaking.

"The downtown streets and sidewalks are more alive when there are no humans trampling over their faces. They become living, breathing testaments to times now forgotten, only remembered by the derelicts who have been there for years, bottles in hand, pissing in the dark corners, adding that certain downtown 'Musk' that tickles our sinuses, wandering barefoot, massaging the concrete squares and rivers of pavement that constitute this land. The deco buildings are the jaded elders who have seen it all come and go. They have bared witness to the weak sons and daughters, destroyed, only to make room for the new strong son-in-laws. The true beauty of loneliness and alienation lies in this one single potato chip bag. Floating endlessly thru the streets. Stopping momentarily to kiss the ground and pay homage to the desolate city streets that are the very foundation for city existence." -Apollo Staar
